When Mai heard Hong's answer told her that she
and her brother weren't born here but they belong to the village after her
grandfather brought them to it.
Hong knew that her answer make the situation
bad and tried to make it good, so she told Mai that she and Loc were her own
since the time Tam and Duc found them in
the forest and brought them to the village.
Mai remembered how the Village had taken them
to their hearts. After that, Mai asked "Why doesn't anyone like
Kien?", "Is that because he is so rude!".
While they were working, Hong asked Mai about
her memories in the city when she was living there?
Mai's memory was good, and she remember many
things about her Mother and a little about her Dad.

Mama was very pretty. She was always singing to
me and playing with me. "Mai's remembered her dad a little" Father
had to go to be a doctor to the soldiers…he never came back.

It was big with flowers in the garden.
[font="]When Mai was telling Hong about her father she hurried
over that part Mai's continued and told Hong that she and her Mother went to
live in Grandfather's house in another city. "Mama never came back from
the hospital" Mai told Hong that with a quiet voice.[/font]
