He Was The Same Age As My Sister

I'm nearly sixty-seven years old but every October when the weather changes I feel like I'm eleven again .

It was the last year of the war , it was so cold .. .
Even the food we ate was just a cold soup made of potato peels and cabbage leaves . We got that soup from the central kitchen .
In this cold day army trucks closed off our street , as they had done many times before . They told us to get out from our houses and they started to run through them searching for men to take them to the army . But they didn't find any man . While we were standing we heard someone crying .. To our surprise , we saw a soldier sitting on a stoop and crying .
A mother walked over and asked him : " What's wrong ?? " She found out that this soldier is only 16 years old hasn't had anything to eat . Two or three mothers slipped to their houses and got him something to eat . Then an officer came .. The boy turned into a soldier again and said thanks . Then the truck engines started up and we went inside ..
But to this day I still remember that soldier who cried . He was the same age as my sister ...
