For hundreds of years people believed that the tale of the Trojan war was true.It's one of the oldest stories in the world.However, as time passed people began to think that it was made up.

Once there was a great city called Troy.For many years the Greek army tried to conquer this city but they couldn't find anyway inside its enormous walls.
One day the people of Troy woke up and found that the Greek army had gone and had left them a huge wooden horse as a gift.
They dragged it into the city and began to celebrate the end of the war late at night.After much eating and drinking,when they were sleeping,the Greek soldiers got out the horse,opened the gates of the city and let the Greek army inside.
The Greeks fought the Trojans and burnt their city
.Today,archeologists are sure that they have found Troy.It's buried under piles of earth and other ruins in Turkey.
Most archeologists and historians now believe that many old legends are based on real places and true events that really happened there.
