[center]Cher Ami and Aron's pigeon
During World War 1 (1914-1918),American soldiers used radios to communicate with each other.but sometimes the radios broke down,then the soldiers had to use carrier pigeons to send messages.
Cher Ami was a carrier pigeon in World War 1.He carried twelve messages in France,his last message saved many Americans lives.
In 1918,enemy German soldiers surrounded a battalion of American soldiers.the American's radio broke down and another group of soldiers thought they were soldiers so they started shooting at them.
German and American soldiers were shooting the American soldiers.The battalion had three carrier pigeons but the Germans shot them down .
Cher Ami was the last pigeon,he was shot in the chest and leg but he continued and carried his message.
The shooting stopped and 194 soldiers in the battalion were saved.The French government gave Cher Ami a ,edal of honor,he was a hero.
the store of Aron's pigeon on the other hand is fiction.It's a story about a hurt pigeon that gets treated by a young boy called Aron.
he named it Pidge and it's not a carrier pigeon but he trained it as one.
He wants to give Pidge to his grandmother so he can fly messages from him to her.However,a group of boys trick Aron by telling him that he can join their gang if he brings Pidge
When they tried to burn Pidge Aron saved him and Pidge flew away,after that Aron realized that he gave his grandmother the right gift witch is Pidge's freedom.
There are very few similarities in the two stories.Both birds were pigeons.In Cher Ami the pigeon is a carrier pigeon while Pidge was an ordinary one.
cher Ami was the real hero whereas Aron was the hero of the second story.
